Dua Of Areedha (A Petition*) To Imam Al Mahdi (Pbuh) *A formal written request, appealing to authority in respect of a particular cause. I begin in the name of Allah, the most kind, the most merciful I write to you, O my Master (pbuh) in need of your help - I complain about what has descended on me, seeking refuge with Allah, then with you from aﬀairs which darken my days, occupy my heart, occupy my thoughts, and rob me of inner peace.

Keep me safe from imagining the coming of problems, free me from what you see of my inclination of devotion (to others rather than You), and my failing to protect myself against my own nafs; and my lack of patience and strength which tears me apart.

I trust in the wisdom of Allah - praise be to Him, and you in the planning about me, the knowledge of your status is with Allah - the Rabb of the worlds, the Guardian of all arrangements, the Master of all aﬀairs, I am conﬁdent that You will intercede for me - Praise be to Him in all my aﬀairs. I am certain in the answer from Allah - to Allah alone do I present my pleas; and you Ya Mawla as my intercessor.

I know He is the only One who can actualise my needs, aﬀect my thoughts and I conﬁrm my hope in you for my aﬀairs. WRITE HAJAAT HERE This (which I have penned) is what I have no strength and patience to bear. Maybe I deserve it because of my ugly deeds and/or my neglect of my wajibaat. So I plead to you in helping me - O my Master with my longing and present my hajaat to Allah before destruction and the gloating of enemies.

I declare the blessings of Allah - and I ask Allah for help, honour and clear success in achieving that which I hope for and the best of beginnings, the completion of all my actions and safety from fear in everything. Indeed He is great in praise in whatever He does and He is enough and the Best of Guardians in origins and conclusions.

When dropping the Areedha in water, recite the following address to Husayn bin Rawh (the 3rd representative of Imam in Ghaybat Sughra) O Husayn bin Rawh, Salamun Alaykum. I bear witness that you died in the path of Allah and (hence) you are alive and sustained by Allah. I am addressing you in your “life” which you lead with Allah - this is my letter and requests to the Imam of the time (pbuh), so please hand it over to him for you are indeed trustworthy.
